Instructions for Setting Up Dial-Up Account in Windows 98/ME
Double click on My Computer, then Double Click on Dial-Up Networking
Double click on Make a New Connection, if there is anything else in here delete it by clicking on it once and then press delete on your keyboard.
For a dial-up connection name type in Richman Poorman and left click next.
For a phone number type in 425-740-3521, you don't need the area code and it should say United States below the phone number, then left click next.
Left click finish
Once you are back to the Dial-up Networking screen, right click on Richman Poorman, the one we just made, and left click on properties.
Once in properties, under the General tab, uncheck use area code and dialing properties. Left click on Networking.
Under Networking, make sure only Enable Software Compression and TCP / IP is checked.
Click on Security and then for Username type in you username, for Password type in your password, and for Domain leave blank Make sure nothing is checked here and then click OK.
NOTE: Your username should be: rpiusername@surf.net
Instructions for Setting Up e-Mail using Outlook Express
Open Outlook Express.
From the Tools menu, choose Accounts
"Click" the Add button and choose Mail.
In the Display name field, type your Full Name.
"Click" the Next button.
In the E-mail address field, type your email address. (i.e.): username@richpoor.net
"Click" the Next button.
"Click" the down arrow on the My incoming mail is a ____ server drop-down list and choose
POP3
In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server field, type the POP3 server for your
domain (i.e.): pop.richpoor.net.
In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server field, type the SMTP server for your domain
(i.e.): smtp.richpoor.net.
"Click" the Next button.
In the Account name field, type your e-mail address (i.e.): username@richpoor.net.
In the Password field, type your password.
"Check" the box next to Remember password if you wish to save your password.
"Click" the Next button.
"Click" the Finish button.
"Click" the Close button.
